Exclusive Interview with Louis Brown...Owner of DarkWood Manor
We recently had the chance to interview the owner and creator of the legendary DarkWood Manor...here is what Louis Brown had to say.
Haunted House News: Can you start off telling the readers where DarkWood Manor's haunted attraction located and also what type of haunt is it(Haunted House, Hayride..etc.) ?
Louis Brown: DarkWood Manor is located in Luray, Virginia. We are about a mile from the world famous Luray Caverns. DarkWood Manor is a indoor/outdoor-haunted house that incorporates about 10,000 square feet.
Haunted House News: What is the theme for your event this year?
Louis Brown: DarkWood has a different theme each year, and they are usually based around the DarkWood family. This year we are introducing a new character known as the Traveler. The Traveler is a dark storyteller who has come to DarkWood Manor in order to bring his tales to life. So, the theme this year is called "The Travelers Tales of Terror". His tales will encompass 3 different story lines(or themes) within DarkWood Manor this year. "The Horrors of Lovecraft" : The chilling tales of H.P. Lovecraft come to life. "Zombie Harvest" A genetically engineered cornfield turns locals into crazed flesh eaters. "The Pirates of R'lyeh" : A band of bucaneers find themselves stranded on the lost island of R'lyeh. They are forced into the serve of Nightmarish Dagon, and they are looking for new recruits. So via our "Traveler" storyline DarkWood Manor is sorta like 3 haunted houses in one this year.
Haunted House News: What is your role/involvement with DarkWood Manor?
Louis Brown: I'm the creator and owner of DarkWood Manor. DarkWood has been a labor of love for me for the past 9 years.
Haunted House News: Give our readers a reason why they need to visit DarkWood Manor this year.
Louis Brown: Each year we try to do something different and entertaining at DarkWood Manor. This year we are doing 3 themes/haunts wrapped into one, which can't be missed. We have created a attraction that is alot different than the old style haunted house. Our scenes are more theatrical, and coupled with great scares. Our sets are far more detailed than you will find elsewhere. You could go through DarkWood Manor 3 or 4 times a season and not catch all the sights to be seen. DarkWood Manor is a great show on all levels, so come on out to the little town of Luray, in the hauntingly beautiful Shenandoah Valley, and get your scream on this October!!
